4 Of The Best Makeup Tips For Eyes Info-Link Article Directory

The eyes are the windows to the soul. Our eyes can say a lot about us and quite often can portray sadness, happiness and tiredness. Eyes can reflect how tired and stressed we are not to mention our age. Women are lucky as they can accentuate the eyes to create a fresh look. Our eyes should be bright and clear. With the right makeup application you hide tired eyes and look fantastic. Follow these 4 easy tips by Genevieve, a makeup artist Brisbane.

Hiding Dark Circles Under The Eyes

Often dark under eye circles are caused by stress, poor diet, allergies or lack of sleep. Fortunately with the right cosmetics and the right tools it is fairly east to hide these dark circles.

Whenever working with the skin around the eyes take extra care as it is very delicate. First moisturise underneath the eye area to avoid the skin appearing dehydrated. If the skin is too dry it will enhance fine lines. Even oily skin needs to be moisturised first.

Choose a good quality concealer. A concealer is a must have item for the makeup kit. It comes in very handy to cover blemishes and dark circles but the trick is to use it sparingly. To hide dark circles apply it only to the darkest parts under your eyes (using it all over will draw attention to the area). After lightly blending it apply the tiniest amount of powder to set the concealer.

It’s best to use a colour that is slightly lighter than your foundation however if it is puffiness under the eyes you’re trying to hide then a slightly darker shade of concealer would be best.

Opening Up Your Eyes With The Use Of Mascara

No other makeup item is as effective as mascara. It is definitely a must have and is the icing on the cake when it come to making up eyes.
Mascara makes your eyelashes look thicker, blacker and longer. It opens up your eyes and makes them look glamorous.

All mascaras have a use by date. Mascara has an anti bacterial agent in it which makes it safe to use for about three months. After that your mascara could be a breeding ground for bacteria which could lead to eye infections. So don’t hang on to out of date mascara. You can usually tell by the way it smells and the texture which becomes thick and just doesn’t go on the same way anymore.

The best way to preserve your mascara and make it last is to apply it properly. Most people pump the wand in and out of the tube but this just adds air into the tube making the mascara dry up. Instead you should unscrew the lid and stir the mascara wand to load the brush. When you apply the mascara, start by wiggling the wand at the base of the lashes. It is the mascara placed near the roots not the tips , which gives the illusion of length. Then pull the wand up through the lashes, wiggling as you go. Finish by placing the wand on top of your lashes at the base and pull through to the tips to remove any clumps. Once your mascara has dried, do not apply any further coats as you will end up with thick and clumpy lashes.

Enhancing Your Eyes With False Eyelashes

For special occasions instead of using mascara on its own why not try false eyelashes.

False eyelashes are like magic really. They have the ability to enhance your eyes bringing out their natural beauty as well as making you look younger and creating a glamourous look. There are many different thicknesses and styles of false eyelashes and once you perfect the art of applying them you will become hooked. Not all false eyelashes have that huge fake look about them, in fact these days they can be very subtle while still creating a nice thick lash effect.

Follow these application steps as the very last thing you do in your makeup routine.

1. Measure the lashes to the length of your own eyelid. Do this by placing the fake lashes on your eye as if you were going to apply them. Then snip the ends off so that they fit your eyes. If they are too wide, they will feel uncomfortable and look fake.

2. Using a good quality lash glue (it usually comes with the lashes) and put a small amount on the top of your hand. Gently run the edge of the lashes through the glue and wait 15-20 seconds before you apply it to allow the glue to get tacky.

3. Tilt your head back, pick up the lashes with your tweezers and place them just above your lash line. Make sure both ends are well stuck then once you have applied it keep your eyes closed for a minute or two to give the glue a chance to dry. Do the same for the other side. This gets easier with practice.

4. Once the glue has dried, add a small amount of mascara to both your natural and fake lashes to blend them together.

The Alluring Look Of Smoky Eyes

Smoky eyes are sexy and beautiful and easy to achieve if you know how. You can make the smoky effect light or dark. A common colour used in this look is black, however, you can use any colour brown, purple, green, whatever you like!

1. Conceal and powder all over and under eye. This is essential for all eye make-up as it forms the base and prevents your make-up from creasing and coming off.

2. Apply light-coloured eyeshadow all over your eyelid, from your eyelashes to your brow bone to help with blending.

3. Then take a dark shadow in a colour of your choice and, starting at the outer corner of the eye, apply the most colour to the outer corners, along the lash line, and up to the socket line. Now you need to blend blend blend, you don’t want to see where one colour starts or finishes!

4. Highlight your brow bone with any lighter shadow or shimmer.

5. Take the same dark eyeshadow that you used in step 3 and apply it underneath your lower lashes.

6. Brighten the inner corners of your eyes with a light shimmer dust.

7. Finish with black liner and loads of mascara on both your top and bottom lashes

Monster High Halloween Costumes

Monster High Costumes are the most sought after Halloween costume this year because of the popularity of Monster High Dolls Monster High Dolls was released last year and has become the must have doll of the season Monster High is the brainchild of Mattel who continues to grow the franchise.

Monster Hiogh is full of teenage monster students who each come from famous legedary monsters and ghouls. Each of the teenage monsters has a condition that gives them their freaky flaw. Such as Frankie Stein being sewn together and having the difficult problem of coming apart at the seams.

Each of the Monster High characters have been made into a doll. Since their first release the Monster High Dolls have had quite a few additions including boy dolls. The Monster High Dolls are so popular with girls with more dolls yet to be released. There are even different versions of each doll such as The Dawn Of The Dance Series or The Classroom Series.

Naturally it wouldn’t be long before every girl would want to dress up as their favorite Monster High Doll and fortunately that is now possible. There are Monster High Costumes that have been released for this Halloween bringing all the excitement and glamour to Halloween.

Finally a Halloween costume that looks good, it beats being an ugly witch. I think that’s what appeals to young girls the most. The characters from Monster High are trendy and cool while looking really fashionable. Monster High Halloween costumes and Monster High costumes for kids are definitely going to be a freakishly big hit this year.

Girls can now have the choice between looking ugly, gruesome and scary and freaky but attractive at the same time. Unfortunately the monster High Costume and wig do have to be purchased seperately. I have found that buying the both is the easiest but if you just want the wig which really is the most important part to achieve the look then you can put together your own outfit.

The Monster High Costumes that are available at the moment are based on the original release Monster High Dolls which are:

Frankie Stein – Her costume looks like the original Frankie Stein Doll. It’s a black and white plaid dress with the polka dot tie. The costume also comes with sleeves and leggings that have the stitch marks on them. There is also a Frankie Stein wig available which really is needed to complete the outfit.

Clawdeen Wolf – Clawdeen’s costume comes with purple skirt and studded belt, fur collared jacket and zebra striped top. The wig comes with little werewolf ears. Very cute!

Draculaura – Draculaura’s costume is a white pleated skirt, white lace collared top and pink vest. This really is an easy outfit to put together yourself as long as you have the wig of course.

Cleo De Nile – Cleo de Nile’s outfit includes leggings that look like bandages wrapped around her legs. This outfit would be a bit harder to reproduce on your own as the bandage look is a must to pull this off. Simply wrapping bandages aound your legs just wouldn’t look right.

Lagoona Blue – Lagoona’s costume includes litlle fins for the arms and legs and has a fish scale top. Lagoona’s wig is really pretty. You could make your own bag to go with this costume by attaching shells and starfish to a brightly colored plain bag.

Ghoulia Yelps – Ghoulia doesn’t have an official costume as yet but her outfit is easy to create. She wears red jeans with long black boots over them. You must have a long blue wig for Ghoulia and include her trademark cats eye glasses and your pretty close.

Monster High Costumes are a huge hit not only for Halloween but for theme birthday parties as well

Formal Makeup Brisbane

Formal Makeup Brisbane

Formal night can be one of the most special and significant nights in your teenage life! I remember on my formal night everything had to be perfect from the nails and hair to the dress! All of these things are imperative however to get the perfect formal look it is crucial to get the right make-up. I like to create a makeup look that compliments your overall look of your outfit but most importantly it has to suit you!

I understand that not every girl wears makeup on a daily basis and may not want or be used to looking too overdone at their formal. In this case I like to create a more natural look that is comfortable but will still bring out and accentuate your individual and best features.

On the other hand if you are a girl who loves to wear makeup that makes a statement we can tailor a formal makeup look that suits your needs. For example you may want a smokey eye look with shimmer dust that suits the color of your dress and glossy floating lips.

Either way I think it is key to formal makeup is a flawless and even, glowing skin-tone. Also it is important to use products and makeup techniques which are photo friendly. I like to use Napoleon Stick foundation, eye primer and face primer as they are all long lasting products. You are going to have so much fun dancing with friends and you need a make-up that will stay in place! Formal time in Brisbane can be humid so a good quality powder such as MAC compact powder is a sure way to eliminate too much shine.

Once your formal makeup is complete, be sure to pack emergency supplies in your clutch as you will need to touch up during the night. Lip gloss, powder and perfume will keep you feeling like a million dollars.

Getting ready with your girlfriends is a part of the formal experience and can be entertaining a lot of fun. I do discounts on group bookings so share this exciting time with friends and save! I will come to you so that is just another less stress on your formal day.

My girlfriends and I still look back at our formal photos regularly and you will too! Some of us cringe at our ‘do it ourselves’ attempts so I can’t stress enough get a professional makeup artist with good quality products! Your photos and memories of your formal will last a life time.

As formal season does get busy it’s best to book in advance for formal makeup Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
